William and Diane Browning

Mr. Browning entered a technical vocational program at Puget Sound Naval College at the age of 16, training as a sheet metal apprentice. During the apprenticeship, he was exposed to asbestos on a regular basis. At the end of the two year program, he decided to continue on with his education, so he enrolled at the University of Minnesota where he earned degrees in Economics and Mathematics.

Upon graduating from college, Mr. Browning pursued a career in computer programming. Mr. Browning was the picture of health all of his life until he was diagnosed with mesothelioma at age 62. For 2 years, Mr. Browning fought the disease, undergoing radiation treatments, chemotherapy, and extensive surgery involving the removal of his left lung. He finally succumbed to the disease in September, 1999.

The Brownings elected to seek compensation for this terrible illness, which had cut short their lives together. HendlerLaw represented them, successfully negotiating settlements on the eve of trial in excess of $3.6 million.
